Screw Exports Rebound Strongly in 2026, China

China’s screw exports, a core segment of fastener products, have registered a strong rebound in 2026 with steady growth in trade volume and continuous optimization of product structure. Driven by the global manufacturing recovery, overseas infrastructure expansion and booming demand for new energy industries, China’s screw exports have shaken off low-price competition. Leveraging complete supply chain advantages and product quality upgrading, the sector has achieved stable and high-quality growth in global trade.
Official customs data shows China’s fastener exports got off to a robust start in 2026. In February alone, exports reached 484,500 tons worth 933 million US dollars, surging 73% and 72.6% year-on-year respectively, hitting a record monthly growth in recent years. In the first quarter, total exports stood at 1.4378 million tons with a value of 2.816 billion US dollars, up 0.5% and 2.9% year-on-year. The first-half export value rose 6.43% year-on-year to 2.473 billion US dollars, highlighting China’s solid competitiveness in the global mechanical parts market.
Backed by a sound industrial foundation, China’s fastener exports maintained steady growth in 2025. The full-year export volume hit 6.239 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 6.7%, with an export value of 11.9 billion US dollars, up 4.1%. Steel screws and bolts dominated the sector, with exports nearing 5 million tons and exceeding 10 billion US dollars in value, consolidating China’s position as the world’s largest producer and exporter of screws.
China’s screw export market features a diversified layout with solid traditional markets and booming emerging markets. Europe remains the top overseas destination, supported by steady demand from infrastructure, automobile and high-end equipment manufacturing. Southeast Asia has become a key growth driver; Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia together accounted for 28% of China’s hexagonal bolt exports in 2026, up 3 percentage points from 2025, fueled by the rapid development of local mechanical manufacturing and assembly industries. Infrastructure projects in Central Asia, the Middle East and Latin America have also opened up new growth opportunities.

Industrial cluster effects underpin stable export capacity. Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Guangdong provinces contribute 60% of China’s total screw exports. Boasting complete industrial supporting facilities, mature production technologies and convenient foreign trade logistics, these regions gather most of China’s high-end screw exporters, capable of supplying full-range products to meet diverse global market demands.
China’s screw export industry has shifted from low-price competition to high-end, customized and high-quality development. Overseas buyers now prioritize product stability, quality consistency, reliable supply capacity and international certifications over low prices. Leading domestic enterprises have accelerated industrial upgrading, focusing on high-end products such as stainless steel screws, high-strength precision screws and special corrosion-resistant screws. These products are widely applied in new energy equipment, rail transit, shipbuilding, high-end automobiles and large-scale overseas engineering projects, greatly boosting export added value and promoting the industry’s shift from volume expansion to quality-driven growth.
Industry analysts hold a positive outlook for the sector. Sustained recovery of major global economies and expanding demand from new energy and infrastructure sectors will continue to fuel market demand. Supported by advancing domestic manufacturing upgrading and expanding high-end production capacity, China’s screw exports are expected to maintain steady growth with rising average export prices and improved overall profitability.
Going forward, Chinese screw exporters will further prioritize technological innovation and quality improvement, align products with international advanced standards, and expand global presence via trade exhibitions, cross-border e-commerce and direct overseas procurement. The industry will continue to consolidate China’s leading position in the global screw trade and facilitate high-quality development of the hardware foreign trade sector.
